A reference site that shows its working

ConvertWise exists because most conversion sites give you a number and nothing else. We publish the formula, the source of the factor and the context you need to use it correctly.

Why we built it

Search for a conversion and you get a number in a box. That is fine until the number matters — when a television has to fit a wall unit, when a suitcase has to pass a 23 kg limit, or when a recipe measured in cups refuses to work twice in a row.

What is missing in those moments is not the arithmetic. It is the context: that screen size is a diagonal, that the 2.2 shortcut drifts at higher weights, that a cup of flour is not a fixed quantity. So we built a site where every page carries the answer, the formula and the explanation together.

We started in 2024 with a few hundred conversion pages and a dozen guides. The scope has grown, but the rule has not changed: if we cannot explain where a figure comes from, we do not publish it.

What we commit to

  • Every factor traced to a primary definition, never copied from another website
  • The formula shown on the page so you can check the result yourself
  • Full-precision calculation with rounding applied once, at the display stage
  • No analytics or advertising scripts loaded before you consent
  • Corrections published within a week of being confirmed
  • Advertising kept entirely separate from editorial judgement

Who writes it

The team is small: two writers with backgrounds in technical documentation, an editor who checks every figure against its defining source, and a developer who maintains the site. Nobody on the team sells advertising, and no advertiser sees an article before it is published.

We use software to compute values and to build the repetitive structure of a large reference site — that is what makes hundreds of value pages practical. The explanations are written by people, and every published number is verified by a person before it goes live.

How we fund the site, correct mistakes and handle your data is written out in our editorial policy and privacy policy.
